Dear Friends of Be an Angel,
Did you know that interaction with an animal can be a powerful curative element to someone who is recovering from an injury? In fact, research shows that the human-animal bond can be more effective in managing pain and depression that medication. Be an Angel Therapy Dogs (BAA) and their teams of volunteers (one dog and one human) know this first hand. Over 90 volunteer teams visit over 60 different venues working with a wide variety of people from children, veterans to the elderly.
Every year, BAA volunteer teams touch the lives of thousands of Central Florida residents, turning frowns upside down, lifting spirits and healing hearts. Until now, BAA has operated as a volunteer run organization almost entirely supported by dues of its volunteer members. Be we have big dreams and want to do more. In the next three years, BAA sees a future where not only we reach more children who need to improve their reading skills, but we respond to more disasters, reach more who are hospitalized and more who need the reassurance of a trained, nationally registered therapy dogs.
Here are our goals:
- Recruit, train and deploy 100 more teams
- Provide teams 50 more venues
- Increase Angel Paws to Read by 10 sites
- Create a local emergency response team to deploy to crisis like we did for Pulse
You can help us make this vision a reality. On May 20, 2018 at 11:00am, Be an Angel Therapy Dogs will hold its first ever fundraising event at the Enzian Theater in Maitland Florida. We would like to ask you to consider an investment in the future.
- $500 sponsors a therapy dog team to visit a venue monthly
- $1000 allows BAA to recruit and train 5 new teams to reach more venues and impact more lives
- $1500 sponsors an Angel Paws to Read site at a local school or library
Thanks to generous sponsors, the entire event is underwritten and 100% of all donations made will go to support the growth and infrastructure of BAA.
Imagine more teams, more smiles and a happier Central Florida. One of our teams will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks to see how you can support BAA and its mission here in Central Florida.
Thank you,
June and Ross Feezel
